The dream of Democracy

The dream of democracy
Utopian it may be,
but full of hope… it is.

Many voices
through one,
a dream it may be
but full of hope… it is

Virtuous leader emerge
Reflecting the voices
Chaotic fairness it may be,
but full of hope… it is

Power to the people
Through the will of people
For the wish of the people
Idealistic it is
but full of hope… it is

It is a dream
isnt it?
Utopian it may be
but full of hope… it is

The din would stop

The din would stop
The clamour would cease
In the calm that follows
You will find me

And when you do
Promise me you shall
Be true in what you do
True in what you be

For what you are
Is because of me
For what you must be
is what they see

You will recognise
I haven’t changed
In the changing times
I have remained

Steadfast and pure
In there in you
In the mirror
Out there too

Khwabon ka zayaka

Albatross sails

Projeto Tamar Brazil/Marine Photobank

The albatross sails
over the stormy sea
From the lofty heights
storm is a spectacle to see

The feathers flutter
the icy winds oppose
But it flies calm
Focussed on the purpose it knows

The keen eyes search
For food below
It flies high
Sometimes it swoops low

To find something to eat,
And some in the beak to store
To feed the hungry little mouths
Waiting in the nest on shore

The keen eyes don’t miss
Shining scales are spotted
The bird dives
Closing in on what it wanted

It strikes the water
Swoops on the feed
In a practiced motion
Hunts for just the need

wings flap to fly
But in vain
The nets trap the wings
It cries in pain

The nets entangle
Cuts into the wings
It looks to the shore
In melancholy it sings

It was taught to fly
To hunt for what it could feed
Who knew of the net laid
By the hunter who eats for his greed

It’s cries are drowned
In the roar of the sea
The hungry mouths on the shore cry
Forlorn eyes look expectantly to thee

Infected

ingress of the unseen
a touch of another
From one of us
Inadvertent and unknowing

In us it resides
In me it thrives
In me it lives
Unseen and undetected

I change
It changes me
it’s presence within
makes me a threat
Avoided and Detested

To be locked
From others as me
To save the rest
Till it dies within
Confined and protected

It is stopping us
From being what we are
to be human, to be social
We live Confined
Afraid and dejected

It’s not the disease
It’s not our body
It’s our minds
I am afraid
affected and infected
