I put the leash

On the collar 

Holding it back 

Keeping it safe 

I set the rules

Punished, 

if violated

Rewarded, 

if it was followed

I set the path

That right one

For I know 

What’s right 

And what it takes 

To survive

Made of safety nets

Woven from the yarn of rules

I create 

My world

A bunch of 

do’s and don’ts

Likes and dislikes

I lived in the maze

scurrying around 

the narrow rows

Trapped I was 

But blissfully safe

Each passing day

I celebrated as a victory

Every day,
